  • From page 2 onwards, the new vocabulary embedded in the story will initially be displayed in red.

  • Make sure the book is read for meaning only; move to the next page only once you have understood the text.

  • On the last page there is a self-assessment where the new vocabulary will be displayed in red while the previous vocabulary will be displayed multi-coloured.

It is advisable to read each book at least 4 times to properly acquire the language.

How to use Unit 1 with no designated Hebrew lessons:

  • Since unit 1 is all about introducing one-self, the teacher may embed one book per week into morning/afternoon registration.

  • The teacher may introduce the new vocabulary and use the books to example it.

  • Children may respond to the register using the newly learned vocabulary, for example; שלום, אני ילד/ילדה

  • Throughout the week, the children may be expected to use this vocabulary in order to get familiar and confident with it.

  • As the weeks go by, the children may be expected to introduce themselves during registration time using the growing vocabulary, for example; שלום, אני ילד/ילדה והשם שלי...

  • Children of higher ability may be expected to introduce themselves as well as use questions to interact with others, for example; מה השם שלך? מי את/ה? בן כמה את/ה?...

  • It is invaluable for the children to read each book numerous times throughout the week (in class and/or as homework)
