The programme consists of series of reading-booklets, using loveable, illustrated Israeli children who present the vocabulary in each booklet and model its use.
Each new reading-booklet uses all the previous vocabulary learned to introduce the current, new vocabulary presented in the new one in order to give the student the needed practice and revision of all the vocabulary learned so far, while making sure it is properly embedded.
The only skill both teachers and students need in order to use this scheme is to be able to read Hebrew;
the rest is self-explanatory.
 
The reading scheme can be used to:
  • Support, guide and lead the Ivrit curriculum and class teaching.
  • Supply meaningful Hebrew Reading materials in class and for homework.
  • Provide vocabulary-resources to support independent teaching and learning.
  • Ignite both teachers and students to learn Ivrit together at their own pace, ability and skills.

About the programme

This is an original, innovative and exciting Modern Hebrew Reading Scheme, which offers a moderate
teaching and learning experience for both teachers and students who may not be Hebrew speakers.

"The RFMO hebrew reading scheme has made such a difference to the reading ability of our pupils. The children have shown a lot more interest in hebrew reading since we introduced this scheme as they are now able to understand what they are reading and to see their own progression as they move through the books. 

As the books are online, the children now have the opportunity to record themselves reading at home and can send this to their teachers to review. This means a teacher can hear every single pupil read from their book every week which would be impossible unless you had 30 copies of the same book to give out.

Our Ivrit teacher has also seen a big improvement in her lessons and is able to refer back to words the children know from their reading books during her lessons.

We definitely want to continue using the scheme next year."
